I think you could always anchor out, somewhere... assuming planning.

Even in Georgia, with their new rules; the guys on Trawler Forum recently posted several GA favorites for me, and I think it was 6 or 7 legal anchorages. Turned out we didn't anchor out, through there, but we saw where those anchorages were, and they all generally looked viable even if some were very exposed.

Look at anchorage markers in the Waterway Guide and in Active Captain; not uncommon.

It's a good question; FWIW, our transient marina fees are outweighing fuel costs (running mostly at trawler speeds).
