Ramp slippery - I know this but still fell - ouch

I have a water craft that I need to step on fender on the trailer to get onto my water craft which is a PWC. This whole operation is fraught with danger as I need to step into the moss/algea covered boat ramp. I know it is super slippery so I am extra extra careful not to slip and fall.

Well - it happened anyway, Ouch. I scrapped my elbow and knee. There was a little dead catfish floating belly up close to where I fell. Got home 45 minutes after I fell, cleaned the wounds and sprayed with Bactine. So will I be dead in 48 hours?

Just watch out for any sign of infection. If you see any: see a doctor quick, since antibiotics, despite our best efforts, still mostly work it is unlikely to be the cause of your demise.

Suggest you learn to carry a first aid kit in your vehicle. For cleaning dirty wounds, yours, or someone else's. For salt water cuts, we clean with Betadine, and have never had a coral cut get infected, using it. The one time Jim got an infected cut, the cut was cleaned, but a fly walked on it while we were away from the boat, and although we re-cleaned it, an infection had begun, which required antibiotics effective in that locale. We always carried vinegar against jellyfish stings in the dinghy. If your PWC has a sealed locker, you might consider something similar. Just a bare minimum for cleaning.

By the way, the OP is going to be lucky one, if it all just heals up. A friend fell on a slippery boat ramp and really messed up his elbow. It required doc visits, and physical therapy, and delayed their plans for 3 months.

I have been tempted to chuck a scrub brush in the dinghy to clean off where i want to step. Never did it, but it just might help.
