Raymarine ACU power question

Howdy, I’m installing a Raymarine EV 400 autopilot system and I can’t find what size in-line fuse or breaker I need between the ACU400 power connection and the 12 volt power source.
I found a chart that describes what is required for the drive motor but not the ACU.
Anyone have an idea and if so can you tell me where you found the information.
Thank you.

Re: Raymarine ACU power question

From the manual:

Quote:
Power supply circuit protection
Protect the power supply for the Evolution system at the distribution board with a fuse or circuit breaker that is suitable for the ACU. For guidance, refer to main power fuse rating stated on the ACU connector panel. If in doubt, consult your local dealer.
If you dig a bit more in the manual the ACU-400 has a 40A fuse at the power input, so a 40A fuse/breaker at the panel would be typical. Personally I’d like something a bit lower than the 40A so that my breaker trips, in an easy to reach place, before the onboard fuse opens, in a not so easy place to reach. But that really depends on the drive current and whether or not you need the full available current.

Of the maximum 40A, 30A is available for the drive, 3A for SeaTalk, 4A for clutch, and the rest for miscellaneous.

Re: Raymarine ACU power question

Thank you, never saw the 40 amp referred to in the manual but I can see it plainly in the ACU itself.
I want to install another up line of the ACU to keep issues from reaching it and as a point to power it down completely if leaving the boat for extended time as it’s not going through the breaker panel. Thanks again.
