Simpson Lawrence windlass

My 1988 /87 guess windlass is a Simpson Lawrence Anchorman Power 700.
The gyspy is a RC-160, I was told the newer model which is the same is the RC-162.
This Gypsy has no drum and it takes chain and line, rope chain gypsy list no 0044600.
New to Boating and know I should have more chain for my boat.
7.5 ton cruiser 33ft , twin prop shafts, 32 inch Draft, 50 in Freeport, 33 lb Bruce.
Existing rode includes 3strand nylon 5/8, and 7 ft chain.
Boat is in the North shore Georgian Bay/ Lake Huron.
The manual states chains sizes, but Manufacturer told me not to use one listed as Standards were changed over the years. The gyspy is not stamped with the size of chain to use.
I purchased new line, 8 plait nylon 5/8 and will splice to one link to hopefully ride more easily than the 11 link splice on the Gypsy. the new line has a BS of around 13k lbs.
I did measure some of the existing chain links. 46 mm overall length, pitch between 27-28 mm, and the diameter of link is around 10mm.
I know now I should of measured the space between the link and overall width.
I am very far from suppliers of chain, I do not want to disassemble windlass and bring gyspy hundreds of miles for a fit.
Other confusing is the Dinn vs Iso. A British man dinn standard is 9.5mm and Canadian Dinn man sells Dinn at 10mm and some state iso as 3/8, 10.3 mm, and 10mm.
All I know, there must be a lot of these Gypsy still in use and I need 40 ft of Chain.
The Windlass Manufacturer is unwillingly to provide help, but did mention BBB 3/8 x 30 or 10x28, not telling the ID width and there are chains with these measurements plus varying widths of the links.
Please advise

Most likely 3/8 BBB. Get a 1 foot length and check it on the gypsy.

Re: Simpson Lawrence windlass

Thanks Vasco
BBB chain from Titan is 10.3 , 27.6 by 15.7 inner ID
My line Bs is stronger than the chain, but if that is the size I will have to get.
The Problem, I have to drive to To or near to get even a foot, don’t think someone will ship a foot.
I think I will have to visit the boat to get that ID measurement.
The weird thing is my overall length of existing chain is 46 mm.
So 10.3 + 10.3+ 27.6 = 48.8 mm not sure if will fit. And the measurement between teeth on the gyspy and its dimensions.
The windlass works like new, Not sure if a new gyspy even of slightly diff size, again the Manufacturer is too busy to chase an ancient order.
I might have dismantle and visit a Chain Supplier far away.
Thanks

Re: Simpson Lawrence windlass

You can order 1 ft lengths to test your gypsy and shipping should not be too much.
