Commercial radio op. license in Canada

Hello, I need info regarding getting a radio operators license in Canada. I want to be able to charter my boat at some point, and wondered if I need more than the standard “Restricted Operator Certificate – Maritime”.??

Re: Commercial radio op. license in Canada

You need a ROC(M) to operate a VHF radio in canada
You only need to have your country ROC(M) to operate a VHF radio abroad.
It has nothing to do with chartering a boat.
When you say charter do you mean chartering a bareboat yourself or you offering charters.
If so in with country?
Chartering commercially in Canada is very complicated.

I want to charter my boat, built as it is for northern latitudes. How do you mean, it is complicated?

Charter with or without crew?
Bareboat it's not complicated.
Charter with a crew, you need to be coast guard approved.
Carrying paying passengers on a sailboat makes you a commercial vessel and complicates things
Thats why sailing school have exceptions

Where are you located? The obvious place would be a school like to Marine Institute in St. John's NL.

And you suggest this because it is a rather involved process to get a commercial radio license?

I’m in Toronto.
