Maui Learn to Sail

Hello,

I live on Maui and would like to take sailing lessons. I checked the ASA website and there are no schools on the site on Maui, also the Lahaina Yacht club is closed.

Any suggestions on how I can start learning to sail here on Maui would be appreciated.

Ask user Kimo_Kai here. He lives there.

Try U.S. Sailing. They also offer certs recognized and every instructor is rated by their students.

Hello Cpt. Mark, Thank you for the reply. I checked U.S. Sailing's website. I didn't know about their organization and I'm glad I do now! Unfortunately, they don't appear to have any sailing schools listed in the islands.

I also checked with the A.S.A.. They have a few schools on Oahu. I'm thinking I'll eventually go there to get some certification, but I would like to get out on the water. I've been saving up and am keen on getting started.

If you, or anyone else reading this post, has an opinion on the difference between A.S.A. and U.S. Sailing, I'd love to know it.
