Sailing Leasons in Northport NY

Hello all,

As a first time boat owner I need to bring up my skill set. I have some experience sailing small boats and understand the wind as I am a long-time windsurfer. I have no issues taking out small boats and maintaining any reasonable point of sail in reasonable conditions. I do however need to gain experience sailing my boat, a Pearson 10M. General Seamanship, sail trim, basic navigation, etc. I am taking a basic boating course currently. I am looking for one of the following:

1. A local sailor who wouldn't mind taking me and possibly my girlfriend out a few times. I will gladly pay in beer, wine, dinner, and immense gratitude. Weekends or some early weekdays.
2. A recommendation to a local professional who I could pay for lessons. Seems a bit hard to find but they must be out there.

Our free time is limited so sailing schools are out for the moment. Besides, I really think I learn on my boat so I understand the particulars or my rigging and mechanical systems. I am moored in Northport harbor, next to Bird Island. A quick dinghy ride from my dock.
