Tidal Cert. Comp Crew or Day Skipper?

Hello all,
My husband and I are new to sailing, he’s been out as a helping hand a few times from Hamble to IOW and really fancies making it a more regular past time and would one day like to sail more regularly - dare I say with our own boat.
I’m doing dinghy training in Greenwich ahead of our plans to do Comp Crew later this summer. My question is, should we opt for the Med (which is our preferred from a holiday perspective) or choose somewhere like Gib to include tidal certs too?
We would, all being well plan to do the Day Skipper course later so could we include tidal with it then?
Penny for your thoughts!

For a personal approach https://trafalgarsailing.co.uk/ in Gib. Learning about tides will put you in good position to sail anywhere in the world.

To do Day Skipper you will have to master tidal theory wherever you do the practical course. It will stand you in good stead. Think of it like passing a driving test on a manual car even if you plan to have an automatic.

I was going to say. The Solent is basically the navel of the earth as far as sail training is concerned. And can be done year round. No better or even equal place on the face of the earth. Why travel if you live nearby (or anywhere in the UK for that matter)?

If you are looking for a training firm on the Solent, a friend and I had a fantastic experience with Nomad Sailing a year ago. I did my Day Skipper practical with them. My friend did competent crew. I had already done the Day Skipper theory online through NauticEd.

Conditions in the Solent are great for learning and the towns we visited were all quite charming and classic/historic sailing destinations.

I thought the course was a great value at less than $1000 for five full days and nights on board including all expenses (moorage, most food, fuel)
