Anyone know what this white stuff is on my PSS?

This was a brand new install 11 months ago - anyone have any ideas what it is?

"Dripless Seals" should be called "Drips Less Seals"

Looks like salt. Try tasting it.
Those PSS shaft seals sometimes allow a minute spray of salt water to escape between the mating surfaces.

Another vote for salt. Can’t think of anything else…

Are you shocked, just SHOCKED, that your expensive seals might leak a little? Don’t be.

Spray a bit of fresh water and it will disappear. Sometimes a tiny piece of something gets pushed up the shaft and it sits between the rotating pieces.

A hint if you don't mind.. install a donut shape zinc hard against the stainless seal on the transmission side. This is for risk mitigation... just in case if the set screws come loose, the mating piece will stay in place preventing a flood.

If it's just salt then that's totally fine by me, was worried it was some kind of corrosion on the graphite puck or something. Will taste it!

And thanks for the reminder about the backup zinc, been on my list to do for a while now.

Actually a good sign.

It means that there is lubricating and cooling water getting to the seal faces.
