Dead Thruster, recycle or sell

I have an old thruster that no longer works. I finally got it out of the boat and was going to take it to the recycle company and get maybe $40 for it. Then I thought for $40 maybe someone that’s more mechanical than I am could do something with it.

The drive leg works fine. It’s the motor that died. The only thing missing is the solenoid to change direction.

So my question is, does this appear to be something that could be repaired and useful?

Rewinding motors is still done; there is a firm doing it 75 miles north of us right now. However, Rheinstrom Pumpenfabrik is alive and well, and may be able to supply you a new motor.

Re: Dead Thruster, recycle or sell

Thanks for that info. That’s good to know. Although we decided before pulling it out that we wouldn’t replace it. The few times we used it doesn’t make sense for to spend $ on it. When we eventually sell the boat it will still be ready for a new owner to install one since we’re leaving the tunnel in place and only glassing over the small holes for the drive leg. So I guess I’ll put an ad for it.

Get the motor rewound. You have a good piece of equipment there.
