Fixed or Folding Prop Yanmar sd40.

Hello I am debating on changing from a fixed 3 blade prop to a 3 blade folding Volvo prop on my PDQ 36 sail. The Volvo prop is much heavier but will it make a significant Improvement as we motor sail a lot. Thanks.
Another question - the transmission oil ( green 80-90 Quicksilver) turn black after 100 hours running Yanmar sd40.

You don't have to go with Volvo, there are plenty of other high quality prop makers.

It will make a small difference when you sail and reduce the drag, but won't do anything really for motorsailing since it will be working same way as a fixed prop.

I've switched to a folding one.

Do you know what size your fixed props were, a blade has dropped off our folding prop and we want to replace with fixed props as an interim. A Yanmar dealer has said we need 17 in by 11 pitch but the pitch seems low. We have 3jh3e with SD40 on a Prout 46 Cat.

Our folding props are in storage as we have started cruising until next year. Sorry
