Help with engine alignment

I have a 27 Mirage 1980 with ysb8. Replaced the motor mounts a couple of years ago, did a complete alighment. When i disconnected the coupling and when the new mounts were in, motor sat about 1" higher. So had to lower the engine by bringing thee screws down. So I assumed that as the old mounts disintegrated then motor dropped and put a lot of strain on the cutlass and coupling. So aligned, feeler gauged and can get about 1200 more rpm with hull speed into the waves and wind. Very happy
