Nissan NS5B Prop/Prop Bushing

At high(er) load/rpm the prop on our Nissan NS5-B 2-stroke 5HP outboard breaks loose and the engine revs up.

Does anyone know if there's a replacement prop-bushing or do I need to replace the prop assembly? The NS5-B parts diagram only shows the prop.

Thanks,
Don

Re: Nissan NS5B Prop/Prop Bushing

Are you sure the prop isn't sucking air? That is what it turned out to be in my case. It did it very badly with one dingy, and not at all with another. The dingy that had the issue was an air floor, and I found that be changing the air pressure in the floor I could mitigate it.

If you suspect the "bushing" between the prop hub and blades, I don't think it is possible to change that. If that is slipping, there should be obvious damage.

It is hard to say. This a recent development and is now occurring more frequently. I first noticed with a fully loaded dinghy. It is possible we ran through a shallow/sand w/out the dinghy wheels -or- it is simply worn out after 4+ years of use.
