Re: North Carolina boat repair facility needed

Nix to Bennett Brothers. Stopped there twice much to my dismay. Also talked to people docked there & they had nothing good to say nor did a fellow looper living in Wilmington.

Re: North Carolina boat repair facility needed

I would not recommend Sailcraft. I am personally having to rework a repair they did for me a couple of years ago. I also helped a friend out that had an unbelievably crappy job done there. If you are doing the work yourself they will get you parts at decent prices. Definitely steer clear of having any electrical or fiberglass work done there.
You did not state your type of boat, but if you have a cat you will be limited to travel lifts no wider than 20 feet at Bock and Sailcraft and 18ft at Deatons. The only truly wide lift in the area is a Jarrett Bay. If you need to be hauled out for your work the Yanmar Mechanics at Town creek will come out to Bock marine. Deaton's is also a Yanmar shop and I've never heard any complaints about their work. When I was in New Bern I used Coastal Diesel for engine work with excellent results, so I second the recommendation on them.

Contact Cory at Jarrett Bay for good work at reasonable prices. He is a sailor also with a beautiful Swan in his yard.

Re: North Carolina boat repair facility needed

We highly recommend Deaton Yacht Service in Oriental.
(nope, we are not affiliated, just repeat customers)

Great family run long-standing business, skilled craftsmen, service oriented manner.
Pricing is fair, neither cheap nor gouging, they have onsite wood and metal shops.

Whenever I wear my Deaton t-shirt in faraway ports, someone always seems to comment,
"Deaton in Oriental? I love those guys..."
