Rudderpost bearing & seal

Hi all, looking for info about a rudder-shaft bearing/sealing... I have a bronze contraption at the top of my rudder-shaft. I guess it's a bearing and/or seal. Does someone recognize this part and can tell me something about it? Could it be a stuffing box? Thanks!

Yes. it appears to be a bronze rudder bearing & seal & was made by Henley.
I suspect that when mounted on that pipe,it may be above the waterline, thus requiring very simple sealing.

i can't tell if it's a stuffing box or just a rubber seal. It appears to just be a bearing/seal. (no nut for stuffing box adjustment) The cup on the side is a grease cup, you fill it with grease and then give it maybe half a turn every now and then to force some grease onto the shaft.

Re: Rudderpost bearing & seal

It appears to be an ordinary bronze bearing, with no sealing properties, being mounted above the waterline. I'd be inclined in any case to put a gasket in there so the grease goes on down the shaft.
