SD20 boot detaching

While scraping bottom in shallow AK water this morning noticed the saildrive boot that surrounds the drive leg and is glued to the hull bottom is partially detached. I still have about a month of planned sailing (Maine Cat 41) remaining as we make our way to haul out in BC.

IS this situation anything serious? If so, what can I do about it until I can find haul out? Can it wait another 4 weeks / few hundred NMs? Thanks all!

Re: SD20 boot detaching

no, certainly nothing serious. seen it many times.

many boats don't bother with these bits of trim which are really only there for fairing the leg

i know one of ours is half off at present. been that way since the yard did a shoddy job of re-attaching 6 months ago, and will stay that way until next slipping in a year or 2

cheers,

Agree with the above, nothing serious. Fix it next time you haul.
