Stuffing Box Size

My shaft is 1.25 inch normal taper; 54 hp Isuzu.... just wondering what stuffing box size and the stuffing material for it would be...

Depends on a few things like type and brand of the stuffing box. As this is a custom boat I would contact the builder if you do not know. Seems Like I have seen him on these forums before, could be wrong about that. Anyway more info is need to answer that one.

A few more details would be needed.

What type of shaft log do you have?

What is the OD of the stern tube, if a strut hung shaft and so on.

As a guide we have a 27.5hp Isuzu engine with a 1" dia shaft and the stuffing is 1/4"
