John,

In some circumstances it means much more: sometimes during daysails I forget to put the box in gear which means the propeller is turning and not feathered. I notice this an hour before arriving and calculate that the past 8 hours I could have gained 8 nm extra meaning I would have been sipping Cuba Libres already instead of one more hour to go!!!
