Yanmar Stainless Steel Split Ring Adapter Plates

Do I really need these plates if I use a Split Ring anode?
Many thanks!

Re: Yanmar Stainless Steel Split Ring Adapter Plates

What would would you attach the split anode to if you don’t use the adapter plates, the anode screws are directly above the lower gear housing retaining cap-screws.?

Re: Yanmar Stainless Steel Split Ring Adapter Plates

I had actually expected that the split anode would be covered by the two bolts of the lower gearhouse and that the actual four screws of the anode would be omitted.

They’re fairly deeply recessed capscrews.

I got it, thanks!
But why out of stainless steel instead of Alumnium?

Re: Yanmar Stainless Steel Split Ring Adapter Plates

I’m not completely sure but I assume the bit that holds the anode in place shouldn’t be made of the same stuff as the anode. Or perhaps the repeated removal and reinstallation of the anode retaining screws is more sustainable with stainless steel tangs, aluminium strips out fairly easily
