And so much of your life consumed by unneeded flushing!

Yeah, if you calculate how much time you spend on shaving in your life you will be shocked!
Anyway, spending 5-10 min each time you shut down the engine or water maker is way less comparing to what will be spent to repair damage done by corrosive salt water, not mentioning money to be spent on repairs.

Re: $1,500 watermaker

Personally, I would not want to waste my time and aggravation on this low end stuff. Case in point, my "Made in China" hookah dive compressor, I never know when this cheap piece of crap from HookaMax is going to schitt the bed, and eventually, I'll need to replace it which will end up costing me more than if Id just spent an extra $300 to begin with.

Our second Spectra watermaker was purchased right here off the forum for $1800 used, then the factory rebuilt the Clark pump and I replaced the low pressure pumps with new and the membrane. So for Under $3800, I have an essentially brand new 380c with factory warranty. Saving $1500 or so by buying a piece of junk just isn't worth it. IMHO

Re: $1,500 watermaker

This WM just gives an idea. No need to use that junk pressure washer. As people above stated, quality electric pressure washer can be used (industrial quality), with brass or SS pump. Something like in the auction below. Always run through it fresh water for last 5 min before shut off, and never have to worry about salt water problems.
