Re: Backflow Valve in Bilge Pump Drain - Good Idea?

I'd like to revive this 5 year old thread with this: if check valves aren't to be installed in bilge pump systems, why does Whale have one integrated into it's bilge strainer?

I understand the risks of installing them, and for that reason I'm confused why a longtime manufacturer of manual bilge pump systems would include one in their strainer.
