Re: Coleman Stirling Power Coolers

Still love mine, although at the moment it is out of working order, my own damn fault, I was shifting batteries in my battery bank and misconnected a couple of wires, and blew something in the circuit board. I am going to try to have the board fixed in Santa Domingo this week, Global cooling says there is a five week delivery time for a new board so,,, maybe if I can not get it fixed in the Dominican Republic this week, I will just make a solo trip to the US next week without cold beer!

Cheers

Tom

Ooops! Sorry to hear that.
Done some stuff like that myself (thankfully not often).

Surly you can figure out something to keep the beer cold
How long have you had yours?
The concept is amazing (at least to me)!

Good Luck with the repair,
Extemp.

Re: Coleman Stirling Power Coolers

Help..

ANyone have a better manual for these?
I have had my two coleman coolers running continuously for nearly three years.. one freezer and one beer cooler...
Tonight my beers are warm and the cooler was blinking the power light and the two freeze setting lights...
I admit.. the air filter was extreemly dirty.. I reset the power and it seems to be cooling down ...
but the Coleman users manual does not list the light blinking as an error message...
Does anyone know if the blinking of the two "freeze" setting lights is a message that the cooler is trying to give me .. like 'CLEAN THE FILTER!"

HOpe for the best .. and it should be working now.. but tonight I have to drink warm beer.

On my SC JS05, the filters have to be cleaned regularly....Or the performance drops accordingly.......so keep them clean!!!!!! and have cold beer !!!

Re: Coleman Stirling Power Coolers

Thanks for all of the quick responses.

I had found the Coleman .PDF file.. but it does not tell you what the blinking lights mean..

Maybe someone from Globalcooling will eventually chime in and provide us with a better manual.

As for my cooler.. it is cooling again... i did not mention that it has been working in near 100 degree heat.. so with the dirty filter it is likely that it just overheated and shut itself down.
I powered it off and back on and though it looked like it was working.. it was not cooling.. I then unpluged the power cable for a few minutes.. and now it is cooling normally.

It lives in a pretty dirty environment (my garage ) so I think I will take it into the shop and remove the side panel and give it a good cleaning out.

aboutgone,
I'd like to ask your opinion (if you'll give it).

Do you think the Sterling Engine based cooling unit (SC JS05) is:
  1. Better than the conventional cooling that you've used in the past?
  2. The same as the conventional cooling that you've used in the past?
  3. Not as good as the conventional cooling that you've used in the past?
If you could answer the questions twice. Once considering cooling aspects and one more time considering power usage.

Thanks in advance,
Extemp.

And yes, I do know this is a bit off topic.
Hope all will forgive.

Re: Coleman Stirling Power Coolers

Well I got to play with my New Coleman Stirling Power Cooler and although I don't have any stats for you (power draw) it cools Very well! Got down to -16 C when the ambient temperature was 29 C.
I'm happy! Thanks captsam54.

At some point I'll take some readings on the amps it draws and post.

Cheers,
Extemp.

The low-battery light is flashing. Check the battery condition.
