Chris' numbers seem about right. I buy coir every few years. Last time was an order for 10 x 625g packages for about $60 CND. We use one per cycle, so this lasts about 10 months so $6 CND or about $4.50 US/month.

That's really the only expense.

We use coir. Always have. I prefer it over peat because it's a renewable resource, and one that turns waste into useful material. But many use peat with fine results.
