Convert top loading fridge to freezer?

Hello all,

Boat we are looking at has 2 fridges, one in the galley and one under one of the saloon seats. Is there a way of converting the one under the saloon seat to make it a freezer (aware that this would require a lot more power to sustain freezing)? Reason being, if we get this boat, we want to do a lot of long distance ocean sailing and feel a freezer would be a god send.

Thanks

DTD

Re: Convert top loading fridge to freezer?

Are they both running off the same compressor?

What type of volume and evaporator plates do you have currently in the box you want to make into a freezer?

Can you tell how much insulation is surrounding the box under the seat?
