Way I understand it and from watching my amp meter, a TXV sort of does mechanically what an AEO does electronically, that is vary the load on the compressor.
Likely of course varying RPM is more efficient than leaving the compressor in high RPM and varying load by changing orifice size.

However I could see how a TXV may confuse an AEO controller, cause the AEO program can’t know what the TXV is doing, is has to assume a fixed orifice.
Why I think an AEO may not work well on either a cold plate, or anything with a TXV.

My theory anyway.

I’m also under the impression that if you have a resistor in line with an AEO module, the resistor puts it into a fixed speed mode, meaning of course then it’s not AEO.
The AEO looks only at compressor cycle times to find the most efficient speed nothing more.
Both refrigerant flow control devices Capillary tube or Thermo Expansion Valve (TXV) do the same thing by controlling refrigerant flow and pressure inside evaporator. The TXV has an energy advantage over the Cap Tube on reaching desired evaporator temperature and TXV will maintain better control in mobile refrigeration when there are major changes in ambient temperature. Cap tube designed systems performance is based on standard day temperatures 69 degrees F. When this mobile unit is moved to a hot climate it becomes less efficient do to the added refrigerant gas vapor pressure and superheat increase inside evaporator.

The yes the AEO modules have an option where they can be set to run at a fixed speed or rely on AEO full control over speed.

The thermostat controls only either evaporator plate or Box temperature and not efficiency unless you tamper with correct differential setting.

Re: Danfoss AEO controller

There are quite a few incorrect statements about Dan Foss compressors in this thread. Here is the document from Dan Foss to set the record straight as of March 2019.

https://assets.danfoss.com/documents...3086415696.pdf

It's 16MB in size so I cannot attach it here.

And here is another document from DanFoss that might be handy . (BD Compressors):

http://files.danfoss.com/TechnicalIn..._pk100c802.pdf

And one last file . (Controllers for BD Compressors):
https://www.secop.com/fileadmin/user...ess100f202.pdf

Dan Foss is related to SecOp in case you see that brand on your compressor instead.

Yes we understand the brand name Danfoss Secop relationship. Can you be specific about what statements in this long thread of comments you feel are incorrect?
