Or maybe you are not working hard enough. Too many breaks. Ha ha ha.

The wet toilet, you simply use it and flush. It flushes with fresh water but even when you have a salt water flush toilet, you can simply use the shower head to use fresh water instead.

If your holding tanks gets full before you launch, then it is too small.
How to take the tank out (it's heavy but we have it set up for that) then use our shopping trolley and drain it in the toilet. Why on earth would you even think about asking for a permission? It's liquid and it goes into the toilet bowl.

Regarding holding tank size, ha, we were on the hard for half a year last time must be a big holding tank then...
Easy to drain the 30l once in a while and it's rarely full to the max.

Interested in your 30 L tank. How does that fit into the geometry of the head? Where does it exist? Could you briefly explain your design?

Emptying this part is the most annoying thing about the one I built. A larger tank would make it nicer.

They must be decanting it… it’s getting weirder by the post

It's super simple.

Iits in the deep vee hull and is just a simple jerrican underneath the wood shaving storage.

The bucket for the hard stuff is right beside it.

The seperator funnel is attached to the toilet seat which can be lifted off to allow it to be taken out. Click image for larger version

Decanting?
No we just take it out and drain it. Super simple and takes literally 20sec to take it out.

I have no problem at all draining that tank or emptying the bucket. It's not dirty and hardly smelly.

To me weird is how people use vaccums, pumps and all that stuff which is expensive and needs to be repaired again and again.

KISS.

I have not once needed to fix anything on our toilet since we are cruising. It never blocks either and we don't have issues with officials either.

That came out very nice!

Good job!

Thank you for sharing. So it’s the Richard Woods design that made it all possible. Ha ha. I didn’t think of those deep, V hulls that keep the boat tracking well. It all makes sense now. I see how you can fit a 30l container in there.

My own bilges are quite shallow. No chance for the same type of design

Btw. we just use wood saw/plane chipps in the hard part works fine and is easier to get than cocos peat over here.
Alternatively cat litter would work but it's heavy and more expensive.

Using a DIY seperating toilet now for two years, no smell & no blocked toilets either.

Boats which traveled with us and had more conventional pump or vacuum systems regularly had to repair stuff or deblock it...

Nice job on your head. I’ve only ever used coir since it is easily available, cheap, and compact. But I’ve heard about using sawdust and woodchips. Obviously, it must work just fine. I’ve even read from someone who used dried leaves. If it works…

We just spray a little fresh water after every use. Seems to work.

Nice job Franziska! We've also used saw dust, coir, ash from our wood stove, and our used coffee grounds Never any unpleasant smells, unless you don't like the smell of coffee

What is a boon John?
Regarding US, won't be in US waters anytime soon, was merely pointing out that separation toilets have their very own advantages.

Re: Disposing of Solid Waste From a Dessicating Toilet

We used this while my wife was going through breast cancer chemo. The marina head was a very long walk away from our slip. The pump out dock was down a narrow fairway that would have been really difficult to get out of with a long keel barn door rudder boat.

The proof of concept worked well so I installed a C-Head. No, we did not use the prototype while in the cockpit. This photo was after installing the C-Head.

We watch the RAN YouTube channel. For those that have not watched, they are a Swedish couple with a young daughter who bought a small farm and are building a pretty big boat. The boat is 50 feet and is made of wood and fiberglass. At this point they are installing the wood planking which is huge amount of work and produces a large amount of wood chips....

You can see the piles of wood chips which fill up huge plastic bags.

Whenever I see the wood chips, my first thought is are they getting used in a desiccating toilet!

Since they are filling up these huge plastic bags with the saw dust I really wanna know what they are doing with it all.

Later,
Dan
