Dometic 7160 toilet

Hi, in the installation manual of the Masterflush series for below the water line it shows you need a vented lop on the intake. I believe if you hook it up as shown it will not work because the motor will draw water in and that will open up the vented loop as it needs pressure to stay closed. If the diagram is wrong then maybe you hook up the vented loop between the motor and the toilet bowl? At least that should be on the pressure side I believe.

Any help would be appreciated,

Richard

Hmmm, That diagram also shows a fresh water line going into the head as well. I only run fresh water from the boat's tanks in mine. 1. smell 2. if there's an issue with a leak it can't sink the boat.

The siphon break has water in it. Just a bit of air at the top is all that is needed to break the siphoning. That's my understanding of it.

A vented loop installed in the toilet intake line will only interfere with the pump's ability to prime...which is why, if you look at vented loop installation instructions for MANUAL toilets, they always show it installed between the pump and the bowl ...so I can see no reason why it shouldn't be installed between the MasterFlush pump/motor assembly and bowl for for the same reason. It needs to be at least 6-8" above the boat's waterline AT MAX heel if the boat is a sailboat, not just when the boat is at rest....which on most sailboats puts it 2-3 FEET above the bowl. If yours is a power boat, it only needs to be 6-8" above the bowl.

Toilets designed to use fresh water must use pressurized water to protect the potable water supply from contamination...in which case, there's a solenoid valve in the toilet intake line that acts kinda like a faucet...opens to allow flush water to flow into the toilet, closes to shut it off. Most toilet solenoid valve assemblies include a vented loop.

Peggy that was my thought too, amazing how a company can screw up the instructions though,
