Don't build a freezer out of HDPE

I decided to build my freezer out of HDPE. It's a long story (way too long), but after being told it would take a month for a local vendor to build and weld the box, I decided to try it myself. I'm handy, it shouldn't be too hard.

Well it was! HDPE is really hard to weld. When you get it hot enough to fuse, it turns invisible. If you burn it, it will leak.

About half-way through hell I read somebody else on here said don't weld HDPE. It was too late for me then, but hopefully this helps somebody else.

It's finally water tight, but I had to use 5200 to get there! Can't wait to finish this project, it's had the whole boat tore up for way too long!
