I'm relieved to hear this--I was starting to worry that the only forum members responding to this thread were the ones who never bathe or wash dishes.

Thanks to everyone for the timely advice. I've just ordered an Isotherm 6.4 gallon "Basic 24." No more aluminum tanks for this boy.

October is beginning to hurt: so far I've blown out a clew block ($250), replaced a water heater ($700) and lost a 12v stereo to corrosion ($175). At this point, the Christmas fund will be depleted before I make it to Halloween.

Re: dowsize water heater?

I went from 50 liters to 32 for exactly the same reasons, after a certain amount of torture this spring trying to save the old calorifier.

I have seven bunks on board without the salon and sometimes that many people on board, so 32 liters is not ideal. Nevertheless, we seem to be more or less ok. Reality is that everyone on board can't take showers simultaneously. But I also increased the immersion heater to 1500 watts, and with three ways of heating the tank -- immersion heater, engine coolant loop, central heating -- we do manage to get everyone showered without any horrible tragedies.

So I guess you will be ok, Bash.
