Flawless 'D'

We are in Aruba where water is not readily available, thinking of using sea water to flush fresh water heads, can it do any damage to existing system?

Re: flawless d

It won't harm anything.
Sometimes, if seawater is left to sit for longer periods, in the plumbing, it can develop a real stink. This shouldn't happen over a shorter period of regular use.

Re: flawless d

hi kathrine! don't know if you remember us but we were rafted up in vero beach a long time ago - we are mike and ann on a csy 37 and we were aboard your boat for an evening.

we only did the bahamas but i'm amazed to find you're in aruba! my wife still comments on both the name of your boat and the fact that you were the captain!

as to the head question, i believe that all marine heads are designed to use sea water; some sailors use fresh water only because it is less likely to harbor odors that are sometimes produced by 'sea life' present in sea water.

Thumbs up Re: Flawless 'D'

thank you for the good advice,
yes we do remember you in vero beach, we have been in the caribbean 1 year, some good, some not so good, the ABC islands are lovely, steady 10/15 east usually, out of hurricane zone, and feels safe, no hassle from boat boys etc, will go to columbia next,
regards to all
kat and jim
