Perusing EBay today. Seems I can get a diesel heater with all accessories and shipping included for $83.89. Basically free.

Or pay $3000 for a Wallas…..

What gives?

My fear would be that I would receive exactly what I had paid for.
Carbon monoxide poisoning…at any price, is never a bargain. Neither is a unit which spontaneously ignites…

An Eberspacher can do that too. Don’t discredit these too quickly, there will be many video reviews on YouTube.

Re: “Free” diesel heater????

I've only seen three of these Amazon heaters at work ... in long hard winter liveaboard use in Ontario. All three were thrilled with how well they worked but all three had the same three complaints ...
The ducting - throw it away and get some real stuff.
The exhaust - Throw it away and get some stuff that won't rust and melt.
The instructions - Written by a Chinese fella who learned English from a Swahili who learned it from a Mongolian who learned it from his horse.

Re: “Free” diesel heater????

I've had one of these in my boat for 4-5 years. Buy an extra fuel pump, glow plug and temp sensor and gaskets, they don't last all that long. And to properly install the $90 heater, you're going to need $2-300 in parts. Throw away the exhaust that comes with it, its dangerous for use onboard. you'll need to buy some proper espar exhaust hose in the length you need (continuos no joints), and a transom adapter, those 2 parts alone will cost you close to $200. They take a bit of tuning as the program out the box is garbage, they run rich and you need to get used to cleaning out the unit every 2 months (for this If I was living abaord I would buy 2 just to swap one in and out of service)

Other than that, they provide heat. Just like any onboard heating system, you need a good CO detector
