Freezer Insulation

We are trying to keep our old eutectic tank system going for as long as possible.

Its 30 years old, but just cant afford the upgrade at the moment.

Is there a spray and expand type insulation we could try to get in around the boxes if we get the old stuff out?

Understanding it won't work as well as tearing out the box and starting from scratch, yes. There are spray type insulation products. From just one brand that is popular and readily available in the US, choose what works best for your situation.

Typical R value is about R4-R5, so similar or only slightly less than common insulation boards usually used in a Freezer rebuild. For a freezer most people shoot for a total R value of around 30, so 6 inches thick.
