Freshwater tank leaking from cracked fitting

I have a Tartan 37 and the main freshwater tank has a leak at the top. I disassembled the deck fill fitting and it looks like someone overtightened the fitting and cracked it along the threads. See pics

I have a small plastic welder (soldering iron type) and was going to weld the radiating crack that goes down the tank. I don't know what to do about the fitting where it is cracked in the threads. Should I just reassemble with some 4000uv or silicone on the threads and hope it seals things up? I will probably end up ordering a new tank at som point, but we are out cruising and logistics of getting the new tank to us will be difficult.

Re: Freshwater tank leaking from cracked fitting

Use a uniseal to replace the female threads in the tank. The male thread pipe is cracking the tank and making the crack open. You will need to drill out the female tank fitting with the appropriate size hole saw per uniseal directions. Seal the crack with gorilla tape. It might stick well enough to stop the leaking. Good luck.
