Refrigerator thermostats and thermometers always need to be celebrated this is why thermostat dials are labeled in numbers and not temperatures. The cook knows if milk does not stay fresh long enough they can set thermostat to a higher number or if eggs freeze turn knob to a lower number. Where a box zone thermostat's sense tube is located is not critical as long as it is reading air temperature and not box liner material. If you want to know the correct temperature in a particular area of the refrigerator to adjust thermostat to place a inexpensive thermometer there to establish a correction calibration number.

Nothing freezes in the fridge, except the peas in the ice box, so the number on the dial does not reflect the temp everywhere.

I like the idea of the cardboard doors to try and see the results.

I have an infra-red thermometer coming soon and I will be able to read the temp in various position around the box.

Since I am only interested in keeping my peas frozen, enclosing the evaporator should allow me to reduce the thermostats setting, hence lower cycle tyme.
