Galvanic Corrosion Toxic?

Calling all bio-chemistry-physics PHDs!?!? I have two large stainless freshwater tanks under the floorboards, with typical inspection ports on top. Lucky me, the inspection ports, including the thru-bolted installation hardware, are aluminum. Inside the tanks, the hardware is virtually welded and unrecognizable with corrosion, white chalky crumbly stuff...that I get in there and scrub down best I can occasionally with a mirror and flashlight...it's been a decades-long fight.
This mess is in contact with the water especially when the tanks are full but it's always a wet environment in any case.
Question: Anyone know if this leeches a toxicity into the water? The water always tastes fresh and it's drawn from near the tank bottoms of course...but wonder if I've been poisoning myself over the years? Or if there's a filter I absolutely should use?
Thanks for any thoughts!
