Heads suck

Have I got your attention?

Yeah, you thought this was about something else.
Sorry to inform you, its just another toilet thread

I dunno what the resulting crystaline accumulation is but my Jabsco joker valve doesnt like it.
The rubber joker valve is just like a tri cuspid heart valve and any build up prevents it closing and the resulting back flow is a problem

I seem to recall hearing of a chemical which will disolve the deposit, which is a result of the salts in urine forming crystals. Does any one know what I should use. Polite answers please.

My loo is flushed with fresh water BTW

Thank you.

Heads are suppose to suck. It's when they start to blow you have problems.

A very appropriate description, and denotes a fellow sufferer?

Sadly, for the forseeable, its my only option cos you KNOW I spend all my money on ammo and more prepper supplies cos theres a war coming.

Former sufferer. I am now a recovering Jabsco owner - owned two over the years, which is one more than the universe owes anyone.

Once you're fully prepped against the apoclypse, invest in a Raritan!

Re: Heads suck

Muriatic acid might do it. I've never had success bringing a joker valve back to life, but then I haven't been all that persistent. Replace the joker valve. Vinegar and an occasional dose of muriatic acid might prolong the lifetime of your new one. We also do a fresh water flush at the end of every day to get rid of the salt water / urine mixture that leads to the crystal deposits.

Re: Heads suck

Do you know, the word MURIATIC was in my head, but I didnt know what it meant and I didnt google it, to my great shame.

Im not sure what impact saline has on uric acid, but my loo flushes with fresh water. I know from farmyard experience that urine crystalises with fresh water, ....but whats the best cure cos stripping the valve every few months is a pain. Last time I killed it and had to order 2 new ones, one as a spare.

Talk about spending a penny, as we used to say in old Blighty, when public conveniences cost a penny a pee.

Re: Heads suck

From The Authority, The Head Mistress, Peggie Hall:

"anothe boater who has travelled around the world tells me that he often had to remove the hose on his boat and beat it with a stick to break up the crystal deposits that develop.

A weekly cupful of distilled white vinegar flushed all the way through the lines will prevent mineral build up in 'em. A couple of cupfuls of muriatic acid flushed down the toilet will dissolve it. Vinegar is easier to handle and a lot cheaper. "

btw, muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid.
