Re: Help Identifying Propane Fitting

Google " Propane supply hose adapter for European stoves" @ $20

This brass adaptor connects the left-hand threaded male G1/4 threaded fitting on your European stove - for example an Eno stove - to a 3/8" male flare for a North American propane hose.

Re: Help Identifying Propane Fitting

They usually have a snap connector incorporating a self-actuating valve that cuts off the gas if the hose to the stove becomes disconnected.

I would seek the services of a gas fitter with a marine endorsement to be certain.

Thanks for your reply.

My stove has a 3/8” male flare, I’m looking for a 3/8” male flare to male compression fitting that will attach to the valve in the photo. I don’t see that adapter when I Google as you suggested.

Does anyone recognize the pictured fitting? What is the size? I assume it is European.

All help appreciated,
Don’t assume it’s European.
Western Enterprises publishes a compressed fitting catalogue.
It lists compressed gas fittings under Compressed Gas Association (CGA) protocol.
Your hose and fittings are likely under index POL ( prestolite).
Any Airgas or Praxair branch store worth it’s salt should have your needs in stock.

Slight thread drift, but my copper pipe is fitted inside a clear plastic pipe from gas locker to behind the stove. Been there a while, about 32 years and seems fine.

Not keen on armoured hose however, as you can't see the date of manufacture which the European orange hose has stamped on it, or if the hose is starting to deteriorate.

The "sleeve" or ferrel can be plastic or brass.
Truly that is a compression fitting you show. Common usage in refrigeration, and even brake line repair, also water line usage.
I would not recommend that for any compressed gas.

For compressed gas fittings you will find brass on brass compression fittings. Usually commercial grade is found at stores where you find oxy/acetylene commercial supplies. Acetylene and propane ( lp) use same fittings on regulators and supply lines. That’s in USA.

I’ve experienced that L.P. shops have limited supplies and knowledge. The person with that is in the field installing and delivering the goods .
Obviously if you know of a lp store that stocks a plethora of fittings and products with a knowledgeable rep, go there !

We only hv one pic which doesn’t show the fittings end views.
Nor do we know whereabouts of OP and other specific details.
So basically we shall all speculate as we usually do ...
