Hose to use on Thru-hull

Apologies for my ignorance.

What hose type should be used between my 1" thru-hull and the strainer (connected directly to the HVAC pump)?

2005 IP 420, new to me. I have replaced the HVAC pump (squirting) and the strainer (corrosion). This leaves a section of MPI Premium Water Hardwall (100 series) green on black wire reinforced hose. This is attached to a Bio-Guard filter that was abandoned but left is place years ago. This device is attached to a section of white unlabeled 1" non-reinforced hose (shields?). The Bio-Guard filter is now leaking--or likely I would not address any of this. The MPI is likely 16 years old, the white hose was added with the Bio-guard I assume.

I suspect there is a right and wrong thing to do here (including standards that some will recite).

The MPI hose might be overkill, but I can't find a source to purchase this, and in my ignorance I am not sure what West Marine or other distributors may have as an equivalent. In the current situation the wire reinforced hose is essentially connected to a thin PVC tube, which is connected to the less sturdy white hose.

I have downloaded a Boat US article, and also product guides from Shields, MPI, Trident, and West Marine. I have spent too much time thinking about this and I am no closer to feeling like I know what I should use. The boat (I am not with her) mostly has a blue on black make of hosing--and I am not even sure what brand that is. Sorry.

What would be preferred--and what equivalents are there; and what would be my other options, and reasons to use or not use them?

I would think this would be a simple answer for someone who has done this; I hope it is not a can of worms. Its just hose! <Grin>

Re: Hose to use on Thru-hull

Any marine grade, engine compartment reinforced hose will do. I lean towards Trident 200/110 or 250/100 (if installing in a tight space/ bends) relatively cheap and readily available.
