Re: Icebox Insulation

You can't order it online from them, you have to call. I ordered it from the Rhode Island location, just tell them you want spaceloft and they'll transfer you to the guy that handles it.

I paid $192 for 10 feet of 60 inch wide, 10mm thick spaceloft, but that was over a year ago.

Re: Icebox Insulation

So Gary, how did you construct the box? Did you have to put something like blue board over the spaceloft to add fiberglass to? I'm thinking in the past I've added insulation by glassing over foam, and then glassing the seams. Finally paint to finish

Re: Icebox Insulation

I haven't installed it yet, I'm going to get to it in about a month.

According to Aspen Aerogels you can laminate the stuff, I think fiberglass will adhere directly to it. I'm going to use pre-made FRP panels as the liner. I'll take photos.

Re: Icebox Insulation

Hi Norm, I was reading your ice box dilema and sympathize with you. We also had a time getting an efficient system going. Especially on long trips when the ice just wont hold out. We went to some elaborate solar condenser system that my husband came up with. Got the idea from a survival site.
I also wanted to ask you if by chance your boat was ever in Los angeles like around 1958? My Father had a nifty little 34 foot Block Island Ketch and I still have fond memories of her. Had her from 1954 until 1958.
Good luck with the ice box! Debbie Jones
