Inspection Port and Clean Out

I want to install an inspection port in our forward holding tank, two main reasons, one to be able to get in and totally clean out the tank each fall when the boat goes on the hard for the winter and the other reason so that I can install a solid tube and bulkhead fitting for the macerator pump. That way the outlet will be at the top of the tank and no liquids will sit in the hose.

Are there any suggestions on a good inspection port, I see Ronco use a Beckson cover, I have one Ronco tank with their port, it has not leaked however they installed it, not me, need I say more!

At any rate any ideas are more than welcome.

Fletch

PS I have the tank out and sitting in my garage so it is easily accessable.

As long as you're going through the effort, make sure it's big enough to fit your hand while holding the necessary tools to clean it out! Ours is on the small side, and we had to design a custom chopper and scooper for the task.

Did you use a ring on the inside of the tank, sheet metal screws, machine screws with wahers and nuts? what type of sealant sticks to the poly tank?

Thanks
