Re: Is otherness model help?

Warrior, I have the exact same system as a spare which I kept from a previous boat. What help do you need? Its also a water cooled unit that you have.

Re: Is otherness model help?

The broken copper line goes (went) to the holding plate. From what I can see nothing is missing - connect the cooling water supply; incoming water goes to the inlet filter which looks like a replacement filter is required, add a repair or replacement copper refrigerent line (and regas), add a holding plate and you should be good to go. There should also be sensor/control wire with telephone connectors that turns the unit on and off plus sets the temperature, between the two units in your pics. I pulled mine out of the boat as it was useless when we dried out (which we used to do a lot of the time in Madagascar and East Africa). It works well in a small compartment (ours was just 40 litres) as a freezer or a larger compartment as a fridge.

Re: Is otherness model help?

warrior-

Rashly assuming that you want to rebuild the system and use it. The good news is that it uses fairly inexpensive R-134a gas. The bad news is that you can't just put it together again. Once the system has been opened, you need to use a high vacuum pump to suck all the air and moisture out of it before you can refill the gas, after you've replaced all the missing parts.

Forgive me if that was old news and you already have access to the right pump but if you are new to all this, repairs can be a very expensive process, costing more than a new system which is factory filled and sealed. You want to know what you are getting into before spending any money on that. And that's assuming the compressor is still going to function properly after you have the new parts, perhaps including new thermostat.
