Re: Johnson Ultima Float Switch

I’ve had mixed-to-poor experience with solid-state switches, though not the Johnson Ultima specifically. For shallow gray water sumps, I’ve used and like this Johnson sealed magnetic reed switch https://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Pump-.../dp/B000KOKJTS, or the West Marine branded clone of it.

Basically a compact/budget switch using the same approach as the USS switches (of which I’m also a big fan).

Hot tip; thanks!

Re: Johnson Ultima Float Switch

I found an old style mercury tilt switch on the Walmart website. Their switch is imported by Red Hot Distributors, LLC. Also, you can find them on ebay. Just Google "mercury tilt switch". I think I will buy one and build my own bilge pump switch.......if I get some of the other hundred tasks done before I sell the boat or die.
