katadyn 40e questions

I have the Katadyn 40e water maker that I purchased used a year ago, and it hadn’t been sitting for two or three years without use but it was pickled. I now have it installed but I will not have the boat in saltwater for another five or six months to try it out to see if the membrane is usable. Should I run some pickled solution through the water maker now and let it sit for the next six months that way?
another question. It freezes sometimes here at 4500 feet in Arizona. Should the water maker be drained of the pickling solution during this cold time? Or is it good with the pickling solution? Or, Pickle it with RV antifreeze? Thanks for recommendations.
