Loop needed on holding tank?

On my boat to empty our holding tank offshore we have a Whale manual pump between the holding tank and the thru-hull valve. Is there any benefit to adding a non-vented loop that extends above the full level of the tank?

We have this loop on our boat and it's really difficult to install and also requires a lot more hose.

One potential benefit is that the holding tank contents doesn't sit in the Whale pump.

No benefit to adding a NON-vented loop, but there should be a VENTED loop in the line between the pump and the thru-hull. You can get away without one if you move the pump to put it at or above the top of the tank.
