Microwave for Bavaria 42

I want to add a microwave to a 2007 Bavaria 42 but there is no obvious location. Has anyone done this?

FYI, the only option I see is to build a shelf on some wall space near the galley and then find a clean way to run the AC. But maybe you have a better idea.

Re: Microwave for Bavaria 42

Check and measure cupboards. Our microwave is a very small unit we bought in Spain that fitted with minor modification to shelf height. Only discovered last season that it also has a grill element. Makes beautiful, crisp croissants in less than a couple of minutes. Always work it with the cupboard door open. It's much easier to find storage for a a few cans of baked beans and packets of cereals than it is to find a space for a single largish unit such as a microwave

I put a power point in the cupboard wired it to a nearby powerpoint, all done behind any visible surfaces. I could have wired it directly to the inverter although it would have been more complicated. Wiring inside cupboards is virtually out of sight.

Our microwave is 600w and 1200w using the grill. 600w is 50 amphours but we never use it more than 10minutes in any 24 hours and this is 16% of available energy; not too bad. Do your calculations for offshore. In port it's microwave, induction hotplate and A/C

Re: Microwave for Bavaria 42

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look for a very small unit and then measure the cupboards. Small is ok for me because the use is mainly offshore in rough seas where I want to reheat premade food. This has really been a great way cook when the conditions are bad. I will run the engine when I use the microwave.
