Nova Kool 12V Refrigeration

This refrigeration system has been in my boat for some time having been installed by a previous owner. Recently, it has been starting intermittently and often shutting off once started. Sometimes when I turn the switch on, it does not start for a period of time and then runs continuously.

Any thoughts?

Could be the thermostat. To check it, bypass it and the system should run continuously and never stop.
I assume you have checked that all the wiring is in good shape and you have good voltage.
