Re: Powersurvivor 35 Problem

So can I test this by removing the motor and using the manual pump handle - pump as hard as I can for a while and if it produces more out put or better quality by hand I'll know the motor is at fault or can hand pumping never get enough to match even a low producing electric. I note the Survivor35 hand pumped model quotes the same output so it would make sense that hand pumping the Power model would work..

I think so......but I'd be willing to bet it's not the motor, but rather the poppet.....weak spring or leaky seat

Re: Powersurvivor 35 Problem

Some of the early 35's here built to military specs which turned out to be poor quality on the poppet springs causing low output I assumed you had replaced the springs they came in my rebuild kit

Re: Powersurvivor 35 Problem

Low production with high salinity is usually not enough pressure. Back pressure valve not holding or faulty pump valves.

Re: Powersurvivor 35 Problem

But as I said earlier I just fitted the new seal kit which means new poppet valves and springs so its not going to be those - which means according to the guide it can only be the spool valve which means the unit is probably scrap as they don't make parts for it any more.

I've emailed Katadyn US to check if they have any bits left but as yet no reply.

Anyone here have an old manifold they don't want or a pump broken in a different way that I can scavenge parts from? Perhaps someone who took the upgrade from 35 to 40 offer Katadyn did a few years back has the old bits from their 35 that aren't used in the upgrade?

Re: Powersurvivor 35 Problem

I've never worked on a Pur but I would be looking at the back pressure valve to check for proper operation and if OK then I would look at the spool valve. A leaking product tube O ring would tend to reduce pressure but increase product water flow and salinity so I don't think it's that.
