Pressure Tank

Ran out of water and now my pressure tank fills with water and the pump will not **** down. Any ideas on this? The pump did run for several hours whist the water tank was empty. Any help would be appreciated. 37 tayana, Tye One On.

Re: Pressure tank

Either your pump has failed, or you have air in the line from the tank to the pump. First work on the air in line possibility. Fill the tank. The height of the water should be above the pump. Open any valves downstream of the pump to let the water flood the line. If you have filters at the output of the pump they may have air bleed buttons on them. If so use them to purge the air. When you think that you have no air in the line between the pump and the tank, turn on the pump and see if it produces sufficient pressure to trip the shut down switch. If not, you will need to repair/replace your pump.

Re: Pressure tank

Any air in the system will make it hard or impossible for the pump to build lasting pressure enough to switch it off so you may need to manually fill pipes to eliminate the air if you cant bleed it out in normal ways
