Re: Pur power survivor 40E

Ok, problem is not solved on the pur power survivor 40E. After biociding, replacing the membrane it is still salty. We don't even know what to try next. Should we remove the membrane until we can get work on it??? Should we pickle it? We are in Eleuthera, Bahama...miles from nowhere.

If the membran was a new membrane there is no need for replacing again.

Sounds like there is a tired O ring somewhere that lets salt water pass. I'd do a complete service , replacing all O-rings. You need a service kit (around 100 Euro) and Ishipago has a good guide on this.

The PS40E is a nice device, we had a later Katadyn one (sold with the boat). Quiet, simple, cheap to run.

I have not had mine apart so don't know how they isolate the high pressure salt water side of the membrane from the atmospheric fresh water side but logically a leak across this seal would be the only way sea water could be contaminating the fresh water output.

There is just O rings between membrane and the pressure vessel. But these should come with the membrane if I remember correctly. Or maybe not, then you will need the maintenance kit or a good selection of O rings to try.

Maybe the mating surface of the pressure vessel / cap has some dent /pitting so the O ring can't seal.

Or the the new membrane wasn't really new.

Our PS takes about 10-15 minutes after startup to start making fresh water. Are you waiting that long? We usually only run ours during sunny times so we start it up each morning.

Re: Pur power survivor 40E

Hello!
I replaced my membrane and some orings on the system, but after that when I turn on the pump work for few seconds, start to do more power and stop burning my fuse.

Do you now what should be? Where I did wrong?
Thank you
