Refrigeration technician in Half Moon Bay, CA

I'd like a qualified tech to visit my boat in Pillar Point Harbor and fix the Danfoss BD35. It runs constantly but is not cold anywhere. Used to work fine for 10 years, until a helpful soul defrosted the fridge, despite my request that he not mess with it.

If you are out there, would you please contact me?

Thanks,
Mike

Maybe check with Coastside Tech. They're over near the yacht club on Princeton and they service refrigeration units. The ones on boats are not really any different.

Ouch! I think you should look very carefully at the coils in your fridge. My first thought is ice removal tool ( knife) punctured the coils. Unfortunately some helpful types wouldn't tell you about the hissing noise!

Re: Refrigeration technician in Half Moon Bay, CA

@gamayun Coastside Tech said they do not work on anything mobile, including boats; a firm "no". Thanks for the good suggestion, though.

@pesarsten I would not be surprised to discover a leak in the cold box area, perhaps in the evaporator box, and/or the supply line to & from it, and/or the thermostat.

@GordMay Thank you for the warm welcome!

Re: Refrigeration technician in Half Moon Bay, CA

A useful piece of information shared with me by an accomplished refrigeration expert: In his experience, he estimated 90% of refrigeration problems on boats were caused by loose or poor connections. I was experiencing the same symptoms you described (compressor constantly cycling on and off and the refrigerator never got cold). Sure enough check the connections on the compressor, there was one loose connection. I tightened it and to my amazement, the refrigerator began operating as it was designed to. If you haven't already checked your connections, it might be worth a try.
